Who is Jimmy?

Hi there! I am originally from the country and the city with the most Spanish speakers in the world, that is, from Mexico and its capital, Mexico City.

You may find it curious that a Spanish teacher like me is called Jimmy and yes, the truth is that a name like mine is rare in the Spanish-speaking world. So also, if you prefer, you can call me Jaime, which is the Spanish version of my name.

But please let me quickly tell you the anecdote about my name. In the remote days of the late 1970s, the most successful athlete of the day was American tennis player Jimmy Connors. And my parents, more than admiring what a good player that character was, they liked his name a lot, so they named this little Mexican Jimmy.

This, of course, has marked my life and I think that, in a very positive way, because in addition to always making the nicknames that other children gave me only lasted a few days, I think it also helped me feel something different.

That is why, like my name, I have always strived to offer something different that my students like. And that, I think I have managed to transmit it through my classes.

I believe that this has also been thanks to the fact that I have had the luck and the opportunity to live with the magic of different cultures, for more than 15 years. By sharing the joy of teaching all those years to students in Mexico, France, Canada and Spain.
